UK Company Insolvency Statistics for 2012 Q1

The Insolvency Service have today (4 May) published Statistics showing business insolvencies across England and Wales in the first quarter of 2012. 

Adjusted on a seasonal basis, there were a total of 4,303 compulsory liquidations and creditors’ voluntary liquidations as shown in Figure 1. This was an increase of 0.2% on the previous quarter and an increase of 4.3% on the same period a year ago.

Made up of 1,238 compulsory liquidations (which are down 11.2% on the previous quarter and up 11.1% on the corresponding quarter of the previous year), and 3,065 creditors’ voluntary liquidations (which are up 5.7% on the previous quarter and up 1.8% on the corresponding quarter of the previous year).
